Easter: A Reminder that Hope Lives!

Matthew 28:6: “He is not here, he is risen!”

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. I love the slow and welcomed transition from the cold to

warmer temperatures. The days become longer, the birds return from their sojourn down south,

and the earth explodes with vibrant colors from newly sprouted flowers after a winter of

hibernation.

Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth. It is also when we celebrate the resurrection of Christ.

Growing up, Easter was a big deal at our house. The days leading up to Easter Sunday were a

flurry of action, with everyone getting ready for the big day. Easter Sunday always brought a

large crowd, and the preaching and singing felt especially joyful that day.

We were celebrating the simple and revolutionary truth that Christ died and rose again for us. His story did not end, and neither did ours. I may not remember every sermon or every song sung, but I remember how hopeful I felt.

Easter represents God’s love for us, victory over death, and hope for humanity. It is a time of

remembrance of God’s promise and love. Jesus died on the cross and in three days, He was

risen. His death gave us life and forgiveness of our sins, and a path to an eternity in heaven!

So what does that mean for us living today in the modern age? How can someone like you or me

possibly relate to this story? Christ didn’t just die for the Marys and Lukes from the past, He was

also thinking about us in the year 2025. That means God forgives us in our current sinful

nature, shaky backgrounds, and countless mistakes. Let us keep the feelings of hope, renewal,

and victory close as we navigate our daily lives. Regardless of the obstacle, remember because of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus hope LIVES!
